Articles > Motorcycle oil change - How to

Here is a basic general guide on how to change the oil on most bikes with a wet sump. Most Japanese motorcycles will be of this type.

Firstly, ensure you have all the necessary items for the oil change:
1. The oil itself. Ensure it is the recommended type and viscosity specified by the manufacturer.
2. A socket tool with the correct size driver.
3. A pan or container to catch the old drained oil. It should hold at least a few litres.

Now onto the process of changing the oil.

as a cycler, i have found vyrniag degrees of comraderie. mountain bike riders are almost always smiling and waving to fellow adventurers. road riders are much to fast to be bothered with such silliness. but here in Big D it throws everything out of whack. Even my own neighbors rarely return a friendly wave. Boo metropolis apathy
